Move Checklist

Practical Moving Day Hints

BOXES
Contact your local grocer. Most stores will be willing to provide you with excess boxes and other items that you may need.

CHINA & GLASSWARE
Protect each piece with paper, then wrap in newspaper. Stand plates on end. Pack in strong dish packs, cartons, or boxes

MIRRORS & PICTURES
Leave mirrors and pictures on walls. Marble and glass tops should be left exposed. Crating may be necessary.

BEDDING & BLANKETS
Pack in cartons or dresser drawers. Do not fold mattresses. Dismantle beds and set them up at the destination.

REFRIGERATORS & AUTOMATIC WASHERS
Check with instruction manual or dealer. Many models may be moved safely with no preparation. Obtain padded covers.

RUGS
Roll with care. Rugs should be shampooed if going to storage.

BOOKS & RECORDS
Plan to take all important papers and documents with you. Valuable books and records should be individually wrapped. Stand on end. Pack in small strong boxes well tied.

CLOTHING & LINENS
Pack in strong cases, cartons, or trunks. Put pillows and towels in dresser drawers. Wardrobes are available for your clothing

KITCHENWARE & GROCERIES
Use strong cartons, barrels, and boxes. Wrap in newspaper with heaviest articles on the bottom. Do NOT store or move combustibles.

TELEVISION, PHONOGRAPH, HI-FI
It is advisable to check with your dealer for instructions before moving. Phonograph arms should be secured firmly.

JEWELRY & SILVERWARE
Plan to take jewelry with you. Flat silver and hollowware should be packed in strong cases.
